The Infamous Masterson’s , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , brands itself as a fashionable, contemporary hangout, but my recent visit at this establishment became a nightmarish ordeal . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I encountered behind its entrance was appalling and beyond comprehension .

From the moment I entered , it was immediately obvious that hygiene was not a priority at Masterson’s . The floors were sticky , and a foul smell of stale beer and uncleaned toilets suffused the entire pub. Emitting a scent of a mixture of human waste, old age and illness . The main bar, which should be the main attraction of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and litter that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The bathroom was in even a truly awful state— backed up, with a broken handle and walls covered in what I can only assume was human waste .

Going through other patrons’ reviews and conversing with residents , it seems that the standard of sanitation (or lack thereof) at this bar is a persistent problem .
